Epokaliss is dedicated to my dead birth mother – I’m not adopted, not in the traditional sense, but I am lucky enough to have other maternal figures who love me as their own. This painting is dedicated to my godmother Sandra. She’s been the level-headed matriarch in my life, ideal for those moments when I need support but my mother would either fly off the handle – or most recently be separated by death.

Words can never thank her enough for being in my life, so perhaps a painting would come closer.
